      Pros

      Small company with entrepreneurial spirit. Many excellent, long-term employees have developed into strong leaders.

      Cons

      Corporate mentality sometimes stifles future growth and innovation opportunities. Some of the strongest executives, while quite competent, lack leadership development skills, and offer growth opportunities only to those who most resemble themselves.

Many companies struggle with leadership development because they take their best players and make them player/coaches without providing additional training.
