Pros

The company claims to offer excellent career opportunities. However, these opportunities seem to materialize only for the Friends and Family network, which is unfortunate for the majority of hard-working and deserving employees. The HR team is adept at promoting the company's mantra: 'kindness, support, respect, inclusion, and transparency'. However, this often feels more like a well-rehearsed slogan than a lived reality. This incongruity between what is preached and what is practiced may leave some employees feeling disillusioned.

Cons

During my tenure at Yardi Systems, I encountered a range of issues that indicate a deep-seated problem in the company's culture. Despite the HR department's assertion that the workplace culture is rooted in kindness, support, respect, inclusivity, and transparency, my experience has been far from it. I have noticed a worrying tendency for management to place family members in key positions. This has fostered an environment of nepotism and favoritism, thereby stifling genuine career advancement opportunities for other dedicated employees. Moreover, it has led to a systemic bias in hiring practices, where qualified candidates often face unusually prolonged processes while preference seems to be given to candidates with personal connections within the company. During my time at Yardi Systems, I was consistently subjected to harassment and belittlement by the leadership. This involved unfair workload distribution, regular derogatory remarks about my work and capability, and unwarranted negative commentary about me among the team. When I attempted to address these issues, I was met with retaliation rather than understanding and resolution. Unfortunately, I also experienced discrimination as I perceived there to be double standards for employees not related to or connected with the leadership team. These included higher expectations and standards applied inconsistently across the workforce. I feel let down by both the company and its HR department, as my experiences and observations were never adequately addressed. Despite the challenges I have faced, I sincerely hope for the company to acknowledge these systemic issues and make significant changes in its management practices and workplace culture for the sake of future employees. It is essential for any organization to create a fair and respectful working environment for all, regardless of their background or connections within the company.

Pros

While the overall experience at YARDI SYSTEMS was disappointing, there are no positive aspects worth mentioning.

Cons

The hierarchy seems overrun with managers and senior engineers who can't lead. They've spent their whole careers at YARDI, resulting in a lack of fresh ideas or broader industry knowledge. Consequently, their flawed development process is painstakingly slow and ineffective, draining ten times the effort for every task. Expect to see your engineering skills wither away here. The senior engineers and managers, who are supposed to be the company's backbone, seem like they just graduated from coding boot camp. An additional concern is the apparent lack of diversity. The workforce is predominantly Indian, raising issues due to language barriers and reported rudeness. This is a company that must recognize the importance of diversity and inclusion, not just for its global image but for a healthier work environment. Finally, the atmosphere seems to be tainted with unnecessary hostility. This negative vibe can hinder creative collaboration and decrease employee morale, stifling potential growth and innovation. In conclusion, Yardi Systems is a textbook example of how not to run a software company. It's astonishing that they're still in business. This company must overhaul its management, encourage diversity, and foster a more collaborative and respectful work culture for any hope of improvement.

Your experience is quite different than what we hear from our talented software developers worldwide. As a minority owned company with a global presence in forty-five offices throughout North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and the Middle East, we understand that a diverse, inclusive, and informed culture is critical for employee happiness, collaboration, and growth as well as our continued innovation and success. At Yardi, we foster a workplace culture that welcomes and elevates each employee, and our demographics reflect this. We have zero tolerance for workplace hostility or misconduct of any kind, and continuously offer training for those in leadership roles so that our managers have the softer skills and subject matter knowledge needed to successfully communicate with, support, and coach each employee on their career path. We genuinely encourage anyone who feels negatively impacted to connect with the VP of Human Resources to further discuss. While we are sorry you weren’t a happier employee, we wish you all the best going forward.

Pros

Flexible Schedule: One of the "perks" of working here is the flexible schedule. It's really great because you can choose any 60 hours per week to work, as long as it's more than the standard 40. Impressive Consistency: The company maintains an impressive consistency in their approach to software development. You can always count on being asked to copy-paste code from one project to another, which is ideal if you're allergic to creativity and innovation. Career Growth: If your goal is to become an expert in fixing outdated code and bugs, then Yardi provides unparalleled career growth opportunities. They are committed to ensuring you become the best at handling decade-old code, which is not transferable to any other company.

Cons

Working at Yardi has been a challenging experience and not in a good way. In an era where companies strive to create a healthy, transparent, and engaging work culture, Yardi seems to be lost in the past. From the onset, it was clear that the company lacks an environment conducive to socialization and peer bonding. There are no perks, no team building activities, no fun Fridays. It's work, and only work, from start to finish. The lack of these benefits has created a robotic atmosphere that leaves much to be desired, especially considering the high-stress nature of the job. A major downside at Yardi is the lack of transparency. The company operates on a need-to-know basis, which makes it hard to feel part of a cohesive team. The secretive culture is not conducive to trust-building or fostering a sense of belonging among employees. Unfortunately, this makes it difficult to invest emotionally in your work or feel genuinely connected to the company's mission. The company's approach to software development is equally disappointing. If you're looking for a place to grow as a developer and work on exciting, cutting-edge projects, Yardi may not be the place for you. Much of the work involves replicating old code and patching up bugs—often ones that originated from outsourced teams. Innovation and creativity are not nurtured here, and it feels as if we are stuck in a loop of copy-pasting rather than progressing. This can severely limit career growth, as the skills you develop here are not on par with industry standards. The heavy reliance on outdated coding practices could render you irrelevant and unhireable in the broader job market. It's disheartening to see your skillset stagnate in a field that is defined by constant evolution and learning. All in all, my experience at Yardi has been far from ideal. The lack of a supportive work culture, combined with outdated practices and a lack of transparency, creates a disheartening environment. It's a place that needs significant improvements if it hopes to retain talented individuals and compete with other software companies.

Your experience is vastly different than what we hear from our talented software developers worldwide. As our culture is based on kindness, support, respect, inclusion, and transparency, it is surprising that you did not feel more comfortable sharing your concerns directly with your manager or HR after being an employee for several years. We care deeply about employee happiness and growth and are excited to be enjoying flexible hybrid schedules that allow us to collaborate at the office and partake in fun onsite events and team activities. We genuinely encourage anyone who feels negatively impacted by something to schedule time with the VP of Human Resources to further discuss. While we are sorry you weren’t a happier employee, we wish you all the best going forward.
