Pros

It's very rare to work for a company that trusts its people fully, but Yardzen does, and it's SO refreshing. Every single person that I have "met" while working here is super kind, and truly wants to see and help each other succeed. It's clear that Yardzen only hires exceptional people. The co-founders of the company (as well as HR) stress the importance of work-life balance and often encourage us to go outside during the workday to get some fresh air & sunshine. Yardzen values feedback, and I always feel like my voice is being heard. It's not an odd occurrence that one of the co-founders will reach out to me to ask for my opinion/advice/feedback on different processes, clients, or presentations within the company. There are always opportunities to jump on different projects with different areas of the company. That said, additional projects are never something that is forced or pushed if you do not want to participate. If you don't want to add them to your workload, or you don't have the bandwidth, there's absolutely no pressure and it's not something that's held against you. There are fun perks such as different virtual happy hours, in-person workdays at a local cafe (if you work in a city where there are multiple YZ folks), and cool swag surprises in the mail. The benefits package, speaking as a full-time salaried employee, is incredible. Yardzen is very generous and offers wellness, phone, and home-office stipend. There is unlimited PTO for salaried workers, and non-salaried folks also receive a good chunk of PTO.

Cons

Yardzen seems to be in its teenage years of the start-up world. Everything is very fast-paced. I'm in a position where I am in near-constant contact with multiple teams, so it can be difficult to keep track of it all & communication can get delayed/messy. Processes are still being developed, so it's not an uncommon occurrence that you run into something that has not yet been encountered. While this can be stressful, you're also at the forefront of creating a process & get to collaborate with different teams to come up with the best possible solution.

Pros

A big part of what makes Yardzen so special is the people that I get to work with on a daily basis. From the co-founders to our newest teammates, everyone is up for taking on new challenges and ready to help each other out at a moment’s notice. It has also been incredibly rewarding to hear anecdotes from our clients about what a new outdoor space means to them and their families. I truly feel fortunate to work here and the sense of community makes it feel like I am part of something much bigger than myself.

Cons

I honestly haven’t had any negative experiences at Yardzen. With any startup, you need to be flexible and able to handle the fast-paced nature as new challenges arise, but I see this as more of a pro!
