Pros

The people were really the strength of this company. At least those who shared the same vision and values, and were willing to work tougher as a team.

Cons

Major cuts came in 2020. They let a lot of highly trained, experienced people go. Yes, maybe you can blame the pandemic, but I know of NO other supplier who let over 400 people go permanently. Leadership was lacking big time, with little or no direction given at all. Autonomy is a good thing, but you should at least feel like your management cares about what you’re doing. Accountability was seriously lacking as well. A lot of finger pointing, rather than trying to fix the issues. The CEO who made the major cuts is no longer there, so hopefully they will be able to recover, move forward, and make it a better place for those who survived the cuts last year.

Like most, we were forced to make difficult adjustments due to the effects of COVID-19. As we emerge from the pandemic, our leaders are taking a very hands-on approach to ensuring every business unit has the resources required to succeed. Moving forward, Yazaki is positioned for long-term success and will serve as a key partner to the world's automotive manufacturers as they address new mobility challenges.

Going backwards

Pros

There are still some good people there that want what is best for the company and the people. Yazaki Japan has a fundamentally sound value system.

Cons

Yazaki Japan has lost control of Yazaki North America. Morale is at it's all time low. Unless you are the favorite of the month (or day), you are not treated with dignity or respect. Value system is missing. Ethics are questionable. Leader rules by fear enjoying the chaos he creates as people jump through wasteful hoops. Unfortunately the good turnaround leader did not make for a good long term growth leader. Yazaki has taken many steps backwards and it will take a different brand of leadership to bring it forward again.

We take great pride in the relationship between Yazaki North America and Yazaki Japan. There has never been a closer alignment of values or goals between the two groups and their respective leaders. Today, they are working together to prepare Yazaki for long-term, sustainable growth and success.
