Not what it used to be

Pros

Great compensation, smart/nice people, lovely offices and benefits. There are wayyyy worse places to be an employee.

Cons

If you're looking for "googleyness", it'll depend on whether or not your immediate team manager believes in it. Aside from this, most all of my workplace relationships felt dominantly defined by the constantly churning expectations, metric resets, and political agendas. Most of the middle management "leadership" (L6 / L7) felt more consumed with seeking individual growth or managing politic than actually helping people and teams grow. I'm not sure if this is due to money-focused hiring, burnt out managers, or just overall overwhelm due to continuous restructuring, but everyone I talked to who had been around more than 5+ years said the culture was no longer the same, and every single person told me it had only gotten worse.

Pros

Great environment for learning content strategy, pacing, and audience engagement Collaborative workflow and quick feedback cycles Exposure to multiple parts of the process: scripting, editing, thumbnails, metadata, and analytics Clear goals and measurable performance metrics

Cons

Tight deadlines and frequent pivots based on performance Workload can spike around launches and trend windows Communication can be fast-moving, so details can get missed Advice to Management: Keep documenting processes and expectations as things change, and continue investing in training and templates.
