Pros

The studio has really embraced the "players first" mentality. In the past, I've worked at studios notorious for getting wrapped up in the numbers - too often losing sight of making games people love. Our track record at Z2 has certainly not been 100%, but the improvement over the last 2 years is impressive. This comes from an ongoing push to mature as a business from the leadership team.

Cons

Our development process has sometimes made it challenging to quickly get new features in front of the team. This can lead to investing too much into new ideas before understanding if they work. However, to Z2's credit we have seen a big turnaround this year in solving this problem.

Pros

- The people you work with are great. - Lots of parties (at least when I was there) - Fully stoked kitchen - Lots of games - Lunches twice a week - Pretty good work/life balance

Cons

- Leadership team is misguided - Not a lot of room to continue to grow - Honestly, I can't believe some of the senior management is still there, considering they were the ones that sunk the boat for everyone to get laid off. - Implemented features without polishing or debugging old ones, making titles with significant amount of technical debt. - People literally disappeared, one day you were working with them, the next you're not - terrible company policy. - They said they listened to the people in the trenches, but not really.

Pros

Products we have been working on for the past year really look and play amazing Finally have the right leadership in place, took a while to get the right right mix of leaders. We have hired some really smart and talented people in the past 6 months...good to see us able to attract people with really great experience. 2014 is much more inclusive, seems like they really want or input on how the company is run, but more importantly how the games are made.

Cons

People leaving...we still loose 1-2 people every month..its sad to see someone leave, but at the same time we have hired some really amazing people to replace them. Its mobile, lots of iteration..I was not ready for the amount of direction change that happens. Im not sure its a Con, but you really need to be ready to have throwaway work.
