Pros

If you are interested in quantitative consulting work with health care clients, ZS is an okay place to work. They work with mid-tier managers on the sales & marketing side for large pharm companies. Good for engineers.

Cons

The senior leadership is comprised of people who just stuck around and were promoted. Based on the companies history, they are extremely focused on getting to the nth decimal place for everything, even when its a theoretical exercise. The people aren't able to apply abstract thought and get stuck boiling the ocean. Bad if you are anything other than an engineer type. It might even be extremely frustrating if you are an engineer type who values time and practical thought.

Unethical Offshoring Practices and Toxic Work Environment

Pros

-Opportunities for developing skills across different functional areas. -Exposure to large-scale projects and cross-functional teams.

Cons

-Toxic Culture: The work culture prioritizes numbers and cost-saving measures over employee well-being. Management often disregards employee feedback and is often aggressive, fostering a toxic environment. -Unethical Offshoring Practices: High-performing American employees are being replaced with lower-cost offshore workers to save money. The company shows little regard for the development of early-career employees and the impact offshoring on livelihoods or the loyalty of those who helped build its success. Burnout and Stress: Expectations for work are extremely high, often unrealistic, with little acknowledgment or reward for efforts. India management expects 12 - 16 hr work days for US employees. Leadership Turnover: Leadership instability contributes to a lack of vision and consistent guidance, making it harder for employees to feel secure or supported. Rigid and Bureaucratic Processes: Despite being a consulting firm, internal processes are inefficient and outdated, with little room for innovation or improvement.

Pros

Like any consulting firm, you’ll be on so many different projects so the learning opportunities will be in abundance.

Cons

Let me start by saying this is the worst job I have ever had including side high school jobs. There is no work life balance - it’s just work. I have had tough projects in the past but I have never encountered the situation where there are truly not enough hours in the working day for the project timeline. The principals are paranoid and lead by micromanaging and are surprisingly more involved than they should be even at the AP level - talking to the level of slide X should say this. I know consulting in general is tough, but because they don’t have brand recognition and still operate with a small firm mentality - there is absolutely ZERO leveraging of prior framework, processes or methodologies. Which on its own would be fun and exciting, but throw in extremely aggressive / just asinine timelines and it becomes setting up teams for failure. This is the type of job and company that makes you realize no amount of money is worth not just your mental health but literally purchasing every ounce of your life. I would RUN. Toxic culture.
