Pros

Working with military spouses. Coworkers are also nice, good people who are passionate about what they do.

Cons

Do not be fooled! This job sounds great on paper and even in the interview. Keep in mind that management is not at all honest about what the job entails during the interview process. Ability to work from home? Great. Everything else? Not so great. If you've worked as a career counselor anywhere else, this is nothing like that. Half of the time, you are reading from a script. And if you don't give specific information in every call, regardless of time constraints or the spouse's needs, you are penalized. Honestly, SECO really doesn't care if you're a good counselor. They care if you can read from a script and check off boxes. They also have your schedule jam-packed. It's a very frenzied environment. Staff members are constantly complaining about their workload and management does nothing about it. DO NOT expect to get all of your work done within your given shift. Also, do expect to be high-anxiety and high-stress your entire shift. Oh, and don't forget to expect changes and more work added to your schedule frequently. Lastly, a coworker told me that she read the glassdoor reviews before applying, and normally she takes them with a grain of salt. She said she wishes she would have taken these reviews seriously! The negative reviews here are accurate. One more thing: you will feel like a robot, not a person. Your supervisor probably won't care to get to know you, and you won't have time to get to know your coworkers. There is literally not time to call a coworker and ask a question.
