There are not many people here with the hands on experience to be effective problem solvers from the engineering teams up to the senior execs. Many more who can talk a good game and use staistics to support their decisions (often the wrong decisions). The result is inaccurate forecasting in terms of product demand as well as poor execution of projects. Relying on these people with little hands on experience is like getting a cost/time estimate to rewire your house from a florist. Poor (clueless) deadline setting by these folks lead to long hours of chaos, bad results, and scapegoating. Cutting the bonus by a percentage is a bad idea. The best people will not be staying in Warsaw if the bonus is not reliable. Remember that technical resources are constantly recruited. I started updating my resume the day I learned that my bonus would be cut by 50%. I really like working at Zimmer but I will not be staying if that happens again. In fact, I am fairly well into the interview process now with another large company. This is mostly a "plan B" at this time but, like I said, it all began over that bonus slashing deal. I don't think anyone puts much faith in those bonus metrics either since those numbers can be fudged. The amount of paperwork involved with doing anything at this company is rediculous. Some of that is driven by the FDA but alot is self imposed.

Consistently changing so need to keep learning new operating systems. Not very good advancement opportunities.
