Pros

A great opportunity to gain experience in the industry. As with all things, there is a price for this experience. I recommend this company to younger candidates with a great deal of energy and enthusiasm who are just starting on their journey. Having the ability to include this company on your resume can sometimes get you noticed simply for having survived. In a matter of 1-3 years you could learn a great deal and move on to better opportunities. It is important to note that Zimmerman is a company owned by the Omnicom Group, a holding company in advertising and marketing. In addition to Zimmerman, they own other national and global agencies as well as marketing and media services. Having another entity to answer to has advantages and disadvantages. They offer benefits to full time employees.

Cons

The most difficult part of dealing with Zimmerman life is the lack of encouragement, positive feedback and growth. Growth opportunities for visual designers is quite limited so there is only so much to learn. Zimmerman pride is based more in sheer volume and the bottom line numbers (ei: money/revenue) than in quality. Also, Zimmerman is located in a "right to work" state and does not maintain a positive policy for those departing the company, regardless of the party of volition. The terms of employment offer no severance nor do they reimburse any unused time upon departure from the company, regardless of the reason.

Pros

- there's a lot to learn, I could see it being a great place for someone just starting out and figuring out how marketing/advertising apply outside of a classroom - if you're lucky you end up working on a great team. My team is literally the only thing I miss about Z - there's at least some effort put in for holidays / happy hours / events

Cons

Welcome to "The Machine"....where you will literally feel like a cog in a wheel that can be replaced at the drop of a hat. - ZERO work-life balance. Do not trust anyone who tells you they will "work with you" if you need to work remotely on occassion. Prime example - wifi went out a couple times and they didn't let us leave to go work at home for the day...instead we sat around doing nothing until like 5:30pm when we were told we could go home as long as we promised to work for the rest of the day. - They'll hire remote employees, but if you're in South Florida you have to be in office 5 days a week. They have people driving 2+ hours to get to work...and then another 2 to get home. - You are treated like a child - attendance is taken every day and if you are more than 1 minute late you are told you could be fired. - You're in the office 5 days a week...and all your meetings are held virtually on Teams. Make it make sense! - Old-school business mentality, still hung up on 'be the first to arrive & last to leave' - Any talk about professional growth is handled in the most vague terms possible, and even if they do give you a promotion (title or salary) don't expect it to take affect for a minimum of 6 months - "Skeleton Week" at the holidays is a joke - you work 1 day but it has to be in-office. So sucks to be you if you want to travel to see family for the holidays - that'll cost you 5 days of PTO. - Most out-of-touch CEO ever. Town Halls are called just so he can hear himself talk while he worships at the alter of Steve Jobs or Elon Musk.

Pros

Amazing coworkers & opportunity to learn a lot!

Cons

They stand at the entrance to write down what time you arrive and threaten to fire you if you walk in a minute past 9:00am on the dot. ZERO flexibility with work life balance. They’ll force you to go into the office every day just for your bosses to be fully remote and to join teams calls all day with people who sit right by you. They lead with fear. Anything good they give their employees they end up taking away.
