Pros

Salary and benefits. This is what tempted me from my old job in the first place, they pay you triple the amount of anyone else and pay for lunch and transportation and phones etc so that all you have to do is pocket your salary at the end of the month.

Cons

The staff and the politics are shocking to say the least. The issues of race and stress increases infinitely the lower down the hierarchy you are. I was on call 24 hours a day and if we had colleagues that came from abroad and got drunk, they would call me at 1 am just to call them a cab and they were at a hotel so this was redundant. When they wanted to let me go they were so unprofessional. For weeks before that they had meetings with recruitment companies and told me about it. They had meetings about me without me. When we finally had the talk I just said ok and how long is my notice etc, my boss actually asked me if I understood what was going on? The timing of the question was odd.

Pros

The perceived prestige of working for one of the major oil companies.

Cons

The continuing changing process, that adds no benefit to safety, or delivery. The problem that I see is generally around the forward plan. Every 2 years bp changes its strategic goals. Its seems that there is a child that is running our cooperate communications and strategy. There is absolutely no application to day to day business and technical activities that are the core of the business.
