      eBay needs to seriously turnaround or it will sink.

      Pros

      The people, the culture, the food, the celebrations. It's a fun place at the beginning but the company doesn't care about career advancement so people move after a while. Lots of politics so that is not good, especially tough times like these. Customers are genuinely trying to help the company but upper management doesn't listen to their advice. And the whole NPR crap score doesn't do much to help us.

      Cons

      upper management is lost, always talking about amazon, copying amazon, can't find the right Turnaround formula to actually turnaround, desperate to be at the top again.

      Pros

      There remain some great people at the company, but they are disappearing rapidly as the ship goes down.

      Cons

      Current leadership is pursuing the wrong strategies. They are not close enough to the customers to understand their needs and appropriately address them. They look around at the market and say, "who is doing well? OK, let's be like them." There is a failure among the senior team to understand what eBay's value proposition really is and to focus on improving around that. Becoming another Amazon doesn't make sense. The world doesn't need another Amazon.

      Great company if you want to work on tough technical problems, comes with tough politics too

      Pros

      Technical Challenges are great and can only be found in half dozen companies. Lots of tough problems to work on from infrastructure to fraud technologies to optimization and AI.

      Cons

      Sheer amount of politics just to get a project booked is comparable to budget negotation up in Sacramento ! Too many politicians and not that many good engineers. Lots of MBAs and none of them are PMs ! Lots of clueless PMs
