Pros

Having the ability to telecommute. The pay, in comparison to other companies for the same position, is above average. The benefits were terrific, especially the stock options (even though they aren't worth anything now).

Cons

What started out to be a great position (I was there for over 10 years), turned out to be one of the worst jobs I have ever had. The management is a joke; very incompetent. Outsourcing is at the highest level I have ever seen, which resulted in poor service to the members. Although the hourly pay was decent, the severance package was an absolute joke (it equated to ONE WEEK per year of service).

Pros

good work life balance and relaxed work atmosphere. i never work over time. i have talented colleagues. my boss is nice and we worked together pretty well. i tried interviewing other opportunities and found they did not pay as much as ebay, at least in China. i have chances to work with U. S. colleagues and sometimes went there to have training and meetings. my english gets much better because i have to talk with other parts of the world in english all the time, which is a great thing and will be a good asset for the future career.

Cons

it's now too big to avoid bureaucracy. one small issue will have to be waited for a long time to get fixed. an email thread grows very fast when people are saying nothing but CCing extra ones to the thread, and finally no one has the answer. when things go wrong, managers often first say it is because under staffing so he can get more head count, which will help himself to grow along the ladder, but makes the company even bigger and slower. why now there is lay off? because we have too many people now. it's very true.

Pros

in general a great business idea that still works, great co-workers, global reach, interesting / challenging projects, work/life balance, social benefits, complex product (if you are a tech product guy), internal job opportunities (PayPal, Kijiji, StubHub, etc)., quite good cafeteria, its an interesting time to work at ebay at the moment - the company is at the edge

Cons

quarterly driven, no longterm vision (or changing it from year to year), too many internal reviews with upper management (doesn't feel as if you got real ownership of your area), MBA-heavy, too many re-organisations, medium pay, location of the offices (1h ride from SF)
