Pros

Posh exercise facilities and two cafeterias.

Cons

Bureaucracy, politics and nepotism interfere with productivity and expediency. Each day feels like a riding a slow boat to China, kind of like driving over multiple speed bumps in a shopping mall parking lot. This company is a typical American corporatocracy.

Pros

There are many challenging problems to be solved at eBay, which can make for intellectually stimulating work. Also, though the talent level does vary, there are many smart people within the organization who are fun to work with by and large.

Cons

It all starts at the top and eBay is fundamentally lacking in leadership or and vision. The Company is facing enormous strategic challenges but no one has shown me a coherent (and credible) plan for addressing them. Sorry, but "Trust, Value, and Selection" and "Deals you can talk about" just doesn't cut it for me. The people who run the marketplace business have demonstrated time and again that they don't understand technology, product development, and the core problems eBay's site, which leads them to seek quick fixes instead of demonstrating the patience and fortitude to address the big problems which won't deliver short-term benefits.

Pros

The people! If it wasn't for my coworkers, I would have jumped ship ages ago.

Cons

Management! Micro-management, ignorance of the real issues, decision making processes that ignore the consumer. The execs do not invest in suggestions or feedback from frontline workers who, on a *daily* basis deal with the issues the membership faces. We know the complaints, we know what pain points need to be addressed. Every once in a while, we are approached by Director / VP level management to review our feedback on what our membership wants, yet absolutely nothing is every done with this feedback. Ever. We have brought up suggestions upteen number of times to have it glossed over.
