Don't Bother Working Here

Pros

Most of your peers are enjoyable to work with. Younger workers with common interests and hobbies

Cons

In the time that I worked at iBP I got my position switched 3 times. The General Manager Assistant (GMA) title is simply a placeholder to for management to put you in any position they want. There is a lack of leadership in almost all departments. Some people are willing to throw others under the bus to get their way moreso than any other company I have seen. However, most of the company's problem stems from upper management. All three bosses have different visions and ultimately clash with each other. Doing a task one way will only anger the others and end with you being berated, sometimes in front of other peers. Physical and mental abuse is commonplace here. Getting yelled at happens almost daily. The bosses will act like they care, but in reality they really don't. Behind closed doors they pull their rank if any issues are brought up and simply tell you there's nothing you can do about so don't bother. Good luck trying to voice a complaint to HR. The bosses do not even attend the sexual harassment training that is mandatory and simply get it signed off as if they attended. At times the bosses even walk in to take a look at your employee when they please. There is clear favoritism in the company as well. Good luck advancing if the three bosses don't like you. Good luck ever getting a raise if they don't like you. They prey on new people joining the workforce and exploit them into thinking that this is how a normal company runs. They groom people into becoming like them or simply becoming complacent. They drive out people that voice their opinions and will go through great lengths to see that you are dealt with. The most senior person within some departments may be someone that has worked there less than a year. That should speak volumes on their turnover. Save yourself the trouble, and don't bother working here. They push away the good employees and keep the "Yes" people.

Pros

My coworkers were some of the smartest and hardest working people I've met so far and have become some of my good friends.

Cons

Where do I start? To begin with, the environment is very hostile. You don't ever know when someone will get yelled at & humiliated in front of you. There are people there who will report you to high heaven if they do not like you even when they are the most unproductive members of a department. Bad managers are rewarded and good managers are intimidated by upper management if their team sticks up for them. The pay scale is also skewed, leaving everyone unsatisfied with their pay because these people will pay you bottom barrel dollar and expect you to go above and beyond the stars for them. Something goes wrong and it's your fault. Something goes right and it is all to upper management's "credit". This place should also be reported to OSHA for all the health hazards it contains & contained previously. Heck, at one point they had cockroaches in the water and NO ONE was informed for 2 weeks. We all drank that. They did get it fixed but still, 2 weeks w/ nasty water and 2 weeks on top of that to get it fixed so none of us had water we could drink. We began taking water bottles from the meeting rooms and we were threatened with warnings because of that. By the time I left, they had yet another health hazard. This time a bird was stuck in the ceiling. I wonder if the bird has been freed. Lastly, it is really hard working with people who think they are the best when they do not anything positive for the company. This includes upper management and some departments. Upper management refuses to listen and refuses to retain people. Most people do not stay past 2 years MAX. Almost everyone leaves disgruntled because they wish that they could have made iBUYPOWER better but it will never happen with the people in charge. They do not understand how the industry is evolving and they only care to hear impossibly high goals without the possibility of a come down. These people fire and push their good employees away in favor of false empty promises.

2 Years At Most & Get Out

Pros

Employees get along with each other very well, however that is the only positive thing to say about this company.

Cons

There is so much potential where iBUYPOWER can flourish, however they waste their opportunity to make this company great. Upper management only cares about themselves and not the employees. There is a reason why the majority of people that work at this company are only there for two years average. The pay is low when it comes to working at iBUYPOWER which makes it tough for employees to make a living. The majority of employees are a younger demographic. The reason for that is because they are willing to accept the fact that they are going to be underpaid, since finding a good job their age can be difficult. There is no room to advance at iBUYPOWER unless someone gets fired. A perfect example is what happened in the Tech Department. There is almost a 2 year wait when it comes to parking at the facility when it comes to males. You have park at another company, which is about a 10 minute walk. The majority of the company is an Asian demographic, so favoritism does come into play since upper management prefers to speak in their own language. In my opinion this company is great for someone who doesn't have anything on their resume. Once you put in your work and hone your skills at whatever department you are in I suggest you leave iBUYPOWER. This company is a great stepping stone that will lead to a better job where you can call your new occupation a career. With that being said, it all starts at the top and upper management has failed when it comes to satisfying their employees.

Pros

You can find good, and hard-working people. Some positions are better than others

Cons

However, upper management has egos and is too much over your shoulder. Not all, but most higher-ups are.
