Working Here Traumatized Me

Pros

Bagels on Fridays Summer Fridays Decent Benefits Great Office Building

Cons

Working here, especially in the customer service department was absolutely traumatizing. Every other week the department shifted gears and we had to switch our client accounts over to a different CSM and had to have so many painful and uncomfortable conversations with our customers explaining why they were getting a new CSM for the third or fourth time in 6 months. The company had several values and one big one that they used constantly and as a crutch was adaptability. It was such an overused competency, which considering how many changes they made on a weekly basis they needed us to comply with these changes so they threw in that adaptability word in every meeting. They also got a new CEO and then a few weeks later he cleaned house and let go of a bunch of people. They weren't even furloughed, they told them if their position opened back up they can apply and interview again. Now you can see most of their customer service positions are being outsourced to Colorado....salary must not be as competitive out there or something. Also dont believe the positive reviews, in your first 90 days they make all the new hires write something positive about their experience there so far. If you dont believe me, just go on LinkedIn and try to connect the dots on why so many of their employees resigned over the past year. Almost everyday on LinkedIn I see someone on my feed resigning from iCIMS, it's insane how high the turnover rate is. It's such a shame too because I genuinely believe in what this software has to offer but poor management and employee relation skills is whats going to bring this company down.

Drastic shift in company vision

Pros

Up to date tech stack. Decent amount of free food and drinks. The company has often shown their appreciation for the employees. Haven't experienced micromanaging. We're given freedom/flexibility to work however works best for us.

Cons

Below market pay. New CEO has very different approach to leading the company than the previous. The culture has always been the best part of working here, and now it seems to be changing for the worse. In the midst of the pandemic, layoffs, and reorgs, our Townhall meetings are rushed through and filled with unhelpful motivational speaches. Employee concerns and questions are ignored. The employee morale is the lowest it's been in the years I've worked here (I'm aware COVID shares responsibility for this). During a hiring freeze and layoffs, the new CEO hired his daughter. Sales is favored by upper management over other departments.

Pros

Location in cool local historic building, fresh grind coffee machines, sparkling water machines, bagel Fridays

Cons

This place has gone downhill. The positive reviews titled "3 months" and "90 days" are written before employees realize what's happening here. iCIMS is losing customers due to the product and mismanagement after the company was sold to an equity firm. Competitors have caught up with way better user-friendly interfaces, and standard features iCIMS still doesn't offer despite engineering hiring every person who lives in NJ with a development degree. But if you go to a company meeting where they say they are "transparent" not a single person will mention how the product is failing. Instead, all you will hear is the equity firms best practice is to never say No to the customer. Only the execs are allowed to say No. So don't you dare to it. Do whatever it takes to say yes which include lying about what the product can do. Stop taking too long to implement and stop nickel and diming. Look around! There is a reason so many veteran people have left. Pretty soon, this place will be a ghost town full of empty desks in this huge building that you are building new floors in for nothing. Then will you wake up and be honest its the product, not the people, when all your staff has gone to companies with superior leadership, products, and better pay?
