Honestly I don't even know where to begin. From day one the hiring process was disorganized and confusing. My first day when I showed up, my manager was an hour late and no one on the team even knew I was starting that day. My computer and phone were not set up so I had to spend the entire day on the phone with the help desk. There was no training program or introductory meeting. One AE that I was supposed to be directly working with every day didn't even acknowledge that I started. As my time progressed there, I became confused as to what I was supposed to be doing. There was no direction, except from a fellow assistant who only had been working there for a few months. I spent the first month of the job sitting at my desk staring at the wall. When I asked for work to do, it wasn't given to me. When I asked to be a part of the ALL TEAM meetings, I was told by one of the upper people on the team that the reason that they wouldn't allow me to be apart of the meeting was because my manager used that as "Hazing" the assistants. Upon being hired, my manager told me that this team prides itself on having a good team culture. That was just not the case. Assistants are actively left out of team events. They made literally no effort to get to know me when i first started. My AE who I directly assisted wouldn't even say hi to me in the halls. When I asked questions they would get outwardly angry and whisper about it to the people around (it's an open office so everyone can hear everything that's said). They would leave hours early and not let me know, then harass me over email. I would ask to meet with them to improve communication and they just ignored and cancelled the meetings. Management couldn't care less about the AE's behavior, or about how assistants are treated in general. On top of all of this, the pay is horrible, barely livable especially in NYC. They try to make up for it with perks like free concerts in the office, but don't be fooled. This company just barely came out of bankruptcy and is hanging by a thread, so they can't afford to pay anyone a decent salary. A manager on my team once told me that "iHeart is going down in the next 5 years", so don't even waste your time. Trust me, it's not worth it.

TOXIC FOR WOMEN: The entire 5 years I've been at iHeart, not a single female has been promoted within my team. I have also experienced sexism in this office. It's been so disheartening and surprising how often I've seen hardworking, passionate, ambitious women overlooked again and again while their lesser male counterparts are constantly promoted. Most of the people who quit are women. NO RAISES: Don't expect to advance at iHeart. People are hardly ever given a raise and if you do get a raise because of a promotion (also rare especially if you're a woman), you get nickels. I haven't received a raise the entire time I was there. I begged for a cost of living raise and was refused. I asked for anything, even 1 extra vacation day, just for any indication that they valued me as employee and they still refused. UNHEALTHY WORK ENVIRONMENT: The office environment is not supportive or trusting. We have been told that upper management doesn't like when enough of us aren't at our desks. So while the entire office may be out early for a holiday, our team has to stay put. It's frowned upon if you leave the office at 6pm. I also had so many sick days accumulated because I was never sick so when I had to use one, it somehow became an issue with management, NOT because of work, but because management has issues with power and control.
