Pros

Lots of great perks, some good people, your job is what you make of it, ability to meet lots of people that have the potential to impact your career -- good contacts.

Cons

No formal reviews, lots of overtime without compensation in any form, management's ability to lead is seriously lacking, unbalanced top-down pyramid structure.

Pros

-Radio is a "fun" business with lots of perks -Lots of resources and tools to sell that competitors do not have -Media sales can be very lucrative -Locally, the management team I worked with was wonderful, but obviously this would vary across markets.

Cons

-There is hardly any training for new sales people; just a horrible computer tutorial they make you sit through. You hit the phones and you sink or swim. -I was there during two major rounds of layoffs in 2009 and I was horrified at how upper management handled them. The aftermath was also awful. -The current owners of Clear Channel are not radio people, they are business people. Because of this the product (radio) has deteriorated and it is harder to sell against other companies. -If you are in sales, be prepared to work with some shady clients! You're in charge of all collections for the advertising they can't actually afford to pay for.
