Pros

Amazing health benefits - the best

Cons

Unorganized and dirty work space. Work environment lacks accountability. Difficult to get shifts covered because the company will not share contact information of fellow employees. Very strict time and attendance policy. 2 minutes late is handled the same as an hour late. Staff space is dirty and not maintained. Most staff that go into leadership roles eventually step down because of the absence of accountability abd work ethic.

Pros

My experience at lululemon from 2018-2021 was, for the most part, filled with memorable moments and valuable learning. Starting in Texas, I was introduced to a company that emphasized teamwork, personal development, and an uplifting culture. The environment felt positive, and it was clear that the company valued growth—not just as an employee, but as a person. When I transferred to NYC, I was able to immerse myself in an even more vibrant culture, furthering my training while preparing for a new role with a different company. The colleagues I met along the way were not only supportive but also genuinely kind, which fostered a camaraderie that was truly unique in retail. The energy within the stores and from leadership was consistently motivating, and the company’s overall mission—to empower others—was something I could get behind. Finally, when I was placed in Miami for work, I was able to form lasting relationships with people I genuinely admired. The company provided a great opportunity for making connections and developing new skills, especially within the retail environment. It was hands down one of the best experiences I’ve had in any retail job.

Cons

However, as time went on and I built deeper relationships with my coworkers and leadership, a darker side of the company culture started to emerge. What seemed like genuine friendships began to feel more like a façade. Over time, it became apparent that many of my colleagues were less interested in fostering real, authentic relationships and more focused on gathering personal information that they could use against others. In an environment where everyone is expected to rise together, the reality is that not everyone is working for the collective good. Those in leadership positions or even peers you thought were your “friends” often use any missteps you make as leverage to further their careers. It’s a subtle but manipulative tactic that, while masked as concern (“We’re worried about you”), actually serves as a mechanism to make sure they stay ahead while you fall behind. One of the biggest disappointments for me was the pressure to take on leadership roles. While growth and development were consistently talked about, when I declined opportunities to move into leadership, it was as if I was marked as a non-team player. From that point on, I was treated differently. There was no continued effort in my growth, and my value to the company seemed to diminish. It was a bitter realization that if you weren’t drinking the “kool-aid” of constant upward mobility and leadership, you were no longer considered a top asset. While the company culture is built on support, the truth is that when you refuse to buy into their leadership structure, that support quickly disappears. The dynamic shifts, and what once felt like a team environment becomes a manipulative, transactional one.
