Pros

Every employee has a dynamic hybrid role which allows for room to experiment, fail and grow. The pay is competitive in the retail environment, although low compared to most other industries. Perks are good in Hong Kong (I've heard in the States the company doesn't sponsor retirement funds) with clothing discounts, two free workouts per week, medical insurance, MPF retirement fund, plus daily and monthly bonuses if financial goals are met.

Cons

The brand culture is very prevalent, most of the managers in Asia interpret these core values too literally and often use them to strongarm people into doing things or acting in certain ways. There's heavy emphasis on keeping energy levels neck-high to deliver "great guest experience" but often at the cost of our own educator experience. Floor shifts can be fun with a competitive spirit but usually depends on who the floor lead is that day. As with most retail jobs, the learning curve is not good, I found myself bored after 6 months with limited opportunities to advance into non-store roles. My immediate manager had great ideas, but suffered from grave disorganization and lack of relevant experience in marketing, making my development journey one that was very ambiguous.

Pros

The majority of people who work for lululemon are passionate about wellness, personal development, and are vibrant individuals. I gained a lot of insight into business strategy, marketing, visual merchandising, communication, and leadership. Forever changed.

Cons

For the work you put in the pay is not reflective. A company that stresses "creating a life you love" and "work/life balance" and at the same time does not compensate a live-able salary.
