Pros

Exposure to yoga and fitness classes. Discount.

Cons

Young, immature and inexperienced employees, especially Managers. Lack of balance especially at Manager and Regional Manager level. Working 12-14 hour days is normal without eating and taking 3-4 classes. Information passed down from the Corporate level is very often contradictory. You are immediately judged by your Regional Manager the first minute you meet her, so you better make a good impression as it will last and be passed on to the entire region and company. Judging of others occurs daily. You are constantly pushed and the workload is not evenly distributed in the store. The company holds on to employees that "play the political game". If you don't, you won't last long. It has been brought to my attention by several guests recently that the company has a "snotty" reputation as a whole. You are clearly not rewarded for your hard work and dedication in the store. It is a #'s game. If your store is doing well, you won't get "called out", but if your store is not excelling, you will be ridiculed in front of other employees. Embarrassing, rude and unprofessional.

Pros

Clothing discount. individual stores are as such, so you really get to cut your teeth on running a small business. you learn in trial by fire.

Cons

there are many. do a quick google search and you'll pull up some eye-opening articles on what it's like to work here above an educator level. they are all true. regional managers and higher say they hear the feedback about things like getting benefits (no sick time, no support with family leave or childcare, no 401k, pay is a joke) but nothing is ever done. it's a well known joke within stores that if you want to become upper management you better become a stepford wife and have a rich husband, cause you sure can't support yourself from what you're paid, and no one wants you to be real about internal problems. if you're looking for a legit career where you'll be valued, paid what you're worth, work where intelligence and business savvy is valued over cult loyalty and working off the clock all with a smile a valley girl accent, look elsewhere. also if you're not a white straight affluent twenty something, definitely look elsewhere, because you'll absolutely never move up. nothing gets rolled out correctly, work life balance is a myth, and the "culture" is mostly intimidation, veiled threats, and the company's own language which they use to break people down mentally.

Pros

Got to workout and do yoga for free. Decent pay for retail. Good discount on their clothes. Meet some interesting individuals.

Cons

It was a very gossipy environment. It was also catty and faux inspirational. They basically wanted you to believe that you could change the world with their yoga pants; further, you had to repeat that message to the customers. Basically drink the kool-aid or get fired.
