Pros

I was provided training on all of the tools and strategic plans for the site. I was over a two shift operation and scheduled my work based on the needs of the business. nGROUP sent resources and engineering support on a regular basis to ensure performance was meeting the standards. I was given the responsibility to manage results based on the team I built. I was expected to have my teams follow engineered work methods, which were pretty amazing compared to the previous approach the client took. The Regional Manager I worked with worked closely with me and mentored me in the nGROUP way. I found this position very insightful and rewarding and it provided me with new skills I didn't posses before. Income was average but fine, work life balance was great considering I scheduled my work over the two shifts as required.

Cons

The job only lasted for 18 months or so since it was a contract job. The client ended up moving operations, so it was out of my and my employers control. Benefits were covered for my individual costs, but not my families, which I guess is expected now, but still stinks. The culture was often discussed with me by my manager, but it was difficult to replicate as I worked on a client site. I had high expectations on me as a manager since I worked for both nGROUP and the client, so it was hard to please everyone all of the time.

Pros

Lots of hours, you don't get to see your family much, never really provided any quality feedback on job performance, and they will take advantage of you any way possible.

Cons

Lots of hours 70+ a week. Worked 5 days a week. What feedback was provided was sarcastic and not really provided in a professional manner. nGroup's contract was canceled at the site I was working. Even though my direct supervisor and his direct supervisors knew about the termination, the customer told me about it two days later. It wasn't until I called and asked the direct question that it was confirmed. They apologized for not communicating it better. in my experience nGroup sold a company on engineered standards which were never set up. They had an engineer do some time studies on some of the methods but never factored any type of fatigue or delay into the standard. They also sold the customer a promise of a database that would track the performance of the employees. Their answer to this was not a system designed to track production like Red Prairie, but an in house build Microsoft Access program that did not work. Finally, they sold the customer a performance pay scale for the hourly employees. Despite being on site for 1 year they failed to put into place any type of incentive pay plan.
