Pros

Provides a great jumpstart for new college graduates for any discipline. Above average pay for the geographical area. Generally flexible with work schedule and personal life. 410k plan is good. Matches dollar for dollar up to 4%. Plenty of free covered parking! Coworkers are great depending on the group.

Cons

Health care options have been reduced over the years. The "options" are you elect coverage or no coverage. Only an 80/20 high-deductible plan is offered. Highly layoff prone mainly due to poor acquisitions: Sanyo and Catalyst. Companies acquired lose money like it is going out of style and this ultimately hurts the core business. Layoffs, multiple furloughs in a calendar year (supplemented by vacation if you have some left). Many of the former Motorola employees are grandfathered in positions for the sake of the Good Ole Boy network while lacking a formal education as well as ambition. Many individual contributors and executive management have left to go to competitors who offer a stable environment, benefits, strong team dynamics, pay and strategic vision.

Pros

-very relaxed atmosphere, everyone is pretty laid back -It was easy to ask questions, but you do not get a response immediately -as an engineer, if you go up into lab, the engineers/techs that work there are great. They help you set up lab equipment and show you where everything is that you need.

Cons

-Management does not communicate what it wants done on projects. You are kind of left to figure out some things on your own and hope it meets your manager's approval -Management does not communicate, period
