Growth oriented company.

Pros

They are willing to invest in employee education. They are growing by acquisition. Atmosphere is somewhat informal and flexible. Finance department has done a terrific job of managing post-Motorola spin-off debt burden. Sales Leadership has typically been very positive with a 'can-do' attitude. They are a strong player in the discrete markets.

Cons

Rating and ranking system of 360 degree reviews can be very political. Somewhat regular waves of layoffs and frequent re-organizations-very demoralizing. Not uncommon for frequent job (lateral) changes do to frequent re-orgs. This can make it difficult to see strategic work through to completion (we all want to feel we accomplished something). SVP of HR manages upward and is rarely seen meeting with employees below leadership level positions (C-level, VPs and directors).

Stagnant Work Environment.

Pros

Highly knowledgeable engineering groups willing to help and teach new hires. Company looks good to the board and shareholders on paper.

Cons

Micro management inhibits individual and group projects/ideas to reach full potential. Mid level management lacks ability to properly repesent group and shows favoritism towrad certain and ironically incompetent individuals. Does not appropriately credit those who go the extra mile. No advancement within company, upper mamnagement does not provide incentive to lift morale. Mid managment does not properly harness the the quality of the groups' work to leverage the group's significance/viability. 3 years of being forced to zero vacation hours and furlough.

Pros

Well run, steady growth and improvement in products. Good work-life balance. Lots of flexibility to create your own job and take on new responsibilities. Keith Jackson is a great evolutionary CEO who likes to make good incremental improvements in the company and is pursuing growth through acquisition.

Cons

Lack of cutting-edge products, long development times, there can be a lot of office politics, especially in Phoenix. The company is relatively cheap with expenditures and forced vacation and salary cuts are very common. (This could be a positive for shareholders, not so much for employees.)
