Pros

Working with or selling Apple Products.

Cons

This company does not care about its employees. Simply Mac (Gamestop) swallows up thriving local companies (PeachMac, MacAuthority, The Mac Store) and implements their own disgusting Utah-grown "culture", idiotic employee structure, unfair and discouraging payment structure, crippling corporate expectations and policies, and unsustainable business practices. If you want to be underpaid, undervalued, unappreciated, overworked, and mistreated, then this company is for you.

Pros

Regular paycheck, okay benefits (that got worse over time)

Cons

The company literally and quite obviously has not idea what it is doing. The higher ups in charge have insulated themselves from criticism when they clearly have no idea to run a business. Thanks to a series of bad real estate deals (some of which I informed corporate about, i.e. the Rapid City location) they were paying out more in rent than they could hope to get back on the razor thin margins they're afforded by Apple. I mean, get this: the company advertises itself as a "premier partner" to Apple, but what does that grant aside from the logo on the ugly t-shirts they've crafted? Margins on Apple products are trash for Simply Mac, forcing sales associates to peddle a limited selection of lackluster accessories. The service department gets pushed around by Apple, reaping huge amounts of debits by Apple, many of which are unwarranted but for which there is little recourse. The supply chain is awful, requiring employees wishing to sell products they don't have to call other stores and ask for a transfer. Getting what you need in a quick, effective manner is nearly impossible. Middle and upper management has also fostered an incredibly toxic working environment for those in lower positions. This is mostly for sales. Multiple times I was bullied, forced to sign a job description riddled with typos; my manager was asked to write me up without cause several times specifically so if I needed to be terminated, they could do so--absurd, given that this is a right-to-work state. Ironically, for Apple's Premium Service Provider program, I was running the highest rated store in the entire company and one of only 7 stores to hit PSP this year. Middle management will do everything they can to make you feel uncomfortable. During the second restructure, they made bonuses much more difficult to hit. They offer absolutely no cost of living raises (or any other raise for that matter) and there are nearly 0 opportunities for growth. So as time went on, my pay and benefits got worse, even though I was performing better and better at my job.
