Expect to make your own curriculums in your free time. Fun but stressful and annoying job
Pros
- you're able to teach students however you want and make very advanced projects with them - if you're trying to get a SWE job teaching older kids will improve your coding skills - you get to have fun with kids and play games with them sometimes as long as it's educational - the kids who aren't forced to go there by their parents think coding is really cool and are gonna be really excited to learn
Cons
- remote teaching is a lot worse the kids are watching youtube half the time - it's difficult to explain programming concepts and keep a kid occupied - you have to make curriculums on your own time. If you're a student or don't have any free time your classes may be filled with long silences while you're trying to debug a program - no health insurance - hours are between 3 - 8 but there are summer camps and you can work on Saturday - Almost zero tolerance late policy. The parent can't leave the kid alone and is paying the company to watch them.
