Saturday was Love Your Pet Day in the US, and Caroline Snapp our Talent Acquisition Specialist in North America poses with her six year old cat named John. "John has definitely enjoyed me being home much more over the past year. He's always on my lap while I'm working and will occasionally make guest appearances in my video calls!" We shouldn’t take for granted how much a pet at home can help our well-being, especially with isolation and lockdown. In the UK, the 17th February 2021 is Random Act of Kindness Day. Kind words and actions can seem so small, but their effects are truly endless. As we continue to navigate the most unprecedented of times and continue to move forwards during this pandemic, a kind word, or a thoughtful gesture can make such a significant difference to a person’s day. Nowadays, a simple "hello, how are things going" to someone is enough to make their day. Our social interactions are becoming less and less, so trying to balance these with video calling fatigue is challenging. What is the right balance? At 1E, we have just rolled out a new initiative, Coffee Roulette, whereby colleagues are selected randomly and encouraged to have a 15-30min coffee chat with someone else in the business.
