We held our annual company picnic in August at the Indianapolis Zoo and had a grand total of 750 attendees! Activities included unlimited rides, private picnic pavilion as well as a private dolphin show for just our staff and their families. Thanks to everyone who came out to make it such a great day!

Who says HR professionals aren't fun?! Our HR team took some time for team building in August with a mobile mixologist where they learned how to make 2 signature cocktails! I think we can all use a little cheer(s) in 2021!

Our PointUP, internal diversity and inclusion committee, kicked off the first official Pride Happy Hour this month. Local brews were provided from breweries particularly donating to LGBTQ+ causes. Our Community Service committee also set up additional donations for Indiana Youth Group, an Indianapolis-based organization creating safe spaces for LGBTQ+ since 1987. 2 bottles of (take home) local Vodka were also raffled off as giveaways for staff who attended.
Although the temperatures are getting hot, last week all of our design centers nationwide were able to get outside and compete in our internal wellness committee's annual cornhole tournament. Great participation from all of the Indiana, Columbus (OH), Tampa (FL) and Austin (TX) offices!
Congrats to the employees receiving Round of Applause (ROA) recognition in May! The ROA recognition program was launched by our HR Group as an opportunity for employees to thank fellow coworkers for going the extra mile. Employees at all levels in all departments can submit recognition for a colleague showing initiative and doing that extra something to help make a project come together or to complete a challenging task. Great job everyone!

Staff enjoyed attending the annual Women in Transportation Services (WTS) Swing for Scholarship event at Top Golf. WTS Indianapolis started the Swings for Scholarship event to fund their chapter scholarships. The event funds now go towards the WTS Internationals Foundation account to fund scholarships, TransportationYOU, and professional development events.

The Tampa design center participated in an afternoon of volunteering at the Bay Pines Veterans Affairs (VA) Healthcare Center on March 26. Bay Pines VA Healthcare serves more than 108,000 veterans in the Tampa Bay area providing medical, psychiatric, and extended care services. The volunteer team – consisting of 11 American Structurepoint staff members plus one spouse – assembled 13 bicycles for use by veterans (and repaired an additional three bikes) and filled 1,600 hand-out bags of supplies (water bottle, calendar, mask, and a letter for each veteran) to be distributed at a vaccination event. They also cleaned up the shoreline on the VA property. The volunteer service team at the VA was extremely appreciative of the labor that our staff provided. Beautiful weather graced a rewarding day of service!

A growing company means lots of opportunities for career advancement at American Structurepoint. Congratulations to these 18 individuals who have earned promotions over the last few months. A big high five to you all! (Also, the photo formatting on Glassdoor isn't great).

Help us support Project Development Director Eric Farny in his quest to become Man of the Year for the Indianapolis region of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS). Eric is taking part in this campaign to raise money in honor of his son, Noah. In June 2019, Noah was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. With great doctors and the support of family and friends, Noah rang the bell in October 2019, symbolizing the end of his treatment. For this campaign, Eric has formed Team NoahStrong with the goal of raising the most money among candidates to earn the LLS Man of the Year title. All donations are tax deductible. With your support, Eric’s team will not only be granted the opportunity to place Noah’s name on the new LLS Children’s Initiative, but every dollar contributed is a vote for Team NoahStrong and will support LLS research, patient services, advocacy, public and professional education, and community services.
