AZA United is excited to announce that we will soon be opening our first new center in the Mesa/Gilbert area, to expand services for all East Valley families! AZA United's East Valley center will be a new hub for all-day interdisciplinary treatment in a setting that is optimized for children to learn, as well as interact with each other to develop social interaction skills. The morning sessions will focus on early intervention treatment for young children, with programs combining Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) with Speech and Feeding Therapy. Although AZA United will continue to offer these important services in-home for individual care, having an additional center-based option at the new center will allow us to serve more children and support a wider variety of needs and abilities. In the afternoons, programs will be available to help older kids in need of speech, feeding, social or behavioral support.

AZA United has announced plans to build a Big New Center in the East Valley! Programs and services will include clinic-based therapies, social groups and after school programs, summer and school break activity camps, diagnostic assessments, family counseling support and more. On September 12, nearly 500 supporters and many Arizona Autism United staff joined together at the Omni Scottsdale Montelucia Resort for our 7th annual Caring Hearts Luncheon. The theme was "Growing Together;" those in attendance heard the powerful stories of several remarkable mothers detailing their own unique and personal autism journey. Our CEO, Dr. Aaron Blocher-Rubin also shared AZA United's plan for expansion, starting with a "Big New Center" in the East Valley!

This year CEO Aaron Blocher-Rubin received a fellowship from the Virginia G. Piper Charitable Trust, which provides grant funding for organizational leaders with at least 10 years of nonprofit experience to design a yearlong “fellowship” experience to improve skills and organizational impact. With our heavy focus on expansion, new programs for all ages, and opening new centers, he's visiting some of the most well-known autism organizations in the world to see what they do, get ideas, and make connections. In June, he visited the world famous National Autistic Society (NAS), headquartered in London. This amazing 50-year-old organization provides programs that span all ages, from newly diagnosed toddlers to the elderly, with a wide array of services across all four UK countries. Aaron returned with key areas for expanded focus: 1) increasing community awareness and inclusion through public education; 2) increasing influence on public policy; and 3) recognition of businesses who take special steps to promote inclusion of people with autism and their families.

Arizona Autism United would like to thank Jim and Cindy Branch of Branchise Inc. for organizing the Desert Vibrations Charity Event benefiting AZA United. The event was held on April 14, 2018 at the Roadrunner Restaurant and Saloon in New River. With live music, great food and raffle prizes, fun was had by all in attendance. The Roadrunner Restaurant donated a portion of their proceeds to support AZA United as well. Overall the event raised almost $3,000! Thank you to everyone who participated in this event!

The Abbett Family Foundation has donated a total of $350,000 to date and has continued to support AZA United as we initiate our valleywide expansion plans. These funds will help us further our mission of helping as many families as possible with individualized supports! More announcements will be coming out later this year about how we plan to expand our footprint throughout the valley and eventually the state, with a goal of having an AZA United office within reach of every neighborhood.
