Congratulations to Barnes-Jewish Hospital and St. Louis Children’s Hospital on earning the highest designation of “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality Leader” in the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s (HRC) Healthcare Equality Index through 2023. The Healthcare Equality Index is the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey of health care facilities on policies and practices dedicated to the equitable treatment and inclusion of their LGBTQ+ patients, visitors and employees.

April Olack, administrative coordinator in the Center for Practice Excellence, has been employed at Memorial Hospital Belleville and Memorial Hospital Shiloh for 17 years and is the March 2022 Employee of the Month. Starting out at Memorial in housekeeping, Olack went on to achieve her CNA from SWIC and became a patient care technician in the Float Pool. Olack said her job duties include welcoming new hires to orientation, BLS instructor, administrative support for all courses offered by the American Heart Association, and coordinator of patient education distribution, among other administrative tasks. “April consistently rises above and beyond in her role,” said Amy Hamilton, clinical program manager. “She demonstrates exemplary customer service whether she is assisting a new hire, agency staff, a patient, visitor, or the entire nursing staff.
