She transferred to Medical Surgical Observation (1NW) later that year and took on the Charge RN role after being on unit for about 3 months. In addition, Melissa was a preceptor for new hires to the unit. In January of 2019, Melissa completed her BSN and was promoted to the RN Manager role. She also participates on multiple facility committees. Melissa shared, “I love working on the observation unit and with the staff. It is a small unit and we work well as a team! I enjoy the fast pace and the variety of patients. Since coming to 1NW I have felt supported and encouraged by my management team as well as my peers. Employee Spotlight - Steven Sanchez RN BSN, OR - Banner UMC Phoenix, AZ. Steven’s Banner journey began in 2005 as an Endoscopy Technician. He later transitioned to the OR as a Neuro/Ortho focused Certified Surgical Technologist. In 2013, Steven obtained his LPN license and worked in the psychology unit as well as, in the OR as a Certified Surgical Tech. Steven continued his education and obtained his BSN in 2017 and now works as a Circulating RN in the OR. Steven shared, “I chose Banner Health to help the community around us by providing quality surgical services and procedures to our population.” He added, “I invested so many years here at Banner Health because I was provided the opportunity for college funding, scholarships, and advancement in my career.” Banner UMC Phoenix is a level 1 Trauma, Magnet, teaching hospital.
