With more than 720 stores across the U.S., Batteries Plus is set for major growth as an essential retailer in 2020. The brand opened 14 new franchise stores and four new corporate-owned stores in 2019 and plans to open an additional 12 units in 2020. Despite COVID-19, Batteries Plus already signed two new deals in March for three units, one of which for the brand’s first location in Vermont.
“We have highlighted our curbside pickup option front-and-center on our website,” Craig McNair, Chief Retail Officer, Batteries Plus Bulbs, told Chain Store Age. “Once customers place their online order, they can indicate curbside pickup. They can call the store when they arrive, and our team will deliver their order right out to them.”
"With an unparalleled view of the customer and their sentiment around the current crisis, we were able to realign our business from brick-and-mortar to curbside pickup to ensure our customers felt safe. Our customers appreciate what our stores are doing to continue to be able to serve our communities during this time, and that positive feedback is highly motivating for those teams to continue to stay engaged," said John Kollm, Director of Store Development at Batteries Plus Bulbs.
"Many of our customers rely on our products and services to stay connected, enable their mobility and power their medical devices," said Scott Williams, CEO of Batteries Plus Bulbs. "We're remaining open to ensure they're able to get the products and services they need, and we're taking precautions to make sure they can get them in a safe manner."
