What is a psychiatrist doing at a consulting firm? BCG has had a long-standing commitment to employee well-being and mental health, one of the differentiating reasons I first joined the firm as a consultant. As part of the firm’s response to the new virtual environment, I had the opportunity to join the team creating a series of mental health trainings to put forward tactical strategies for coping with stressors related to COVID-19. These trainings, with over 1,200 BCGers participating, ended up also being a space for people to discover that so many others were sharing the same struggle. People left feeling seen, which is remarkable for a North America-wide training and one done virtual.

“Even more than words right now, we need action. At BCG, we will continue to listen, educate ourselves, speak-up, talk openly, and work hard to help put an end to racism and injustice in our communities every day.” BCG CEO Rich Lesser, responds to the recent protests in the United States. https://on.bcg.com/2Xooacy Our BCG channels will go on pause to create more space for the voices of our Black community to be heard and for the rest of us, as allies, to take action and educate ourselves to create a better, inclusive future.

Crises often create new attitudes, needs, and behaviors, which need to be managed. Imagination is the crucial factor in seizing and creating new opportunities, and finding new paths to growth. While imagination may seem like a frivolous luxury in a crisis, it is actually a necessity for building future success: https://on.bcg.com/3bsb5nc

"As someone who is immersed in the field of employee wellbeing, I hope that I can offer a few insights and some useful advice on how to navigate this difficult time—from the point of view of what we do at BCG and from a personal point of view as a colleague, husband, and father."
