Who works at Cornell? Meet Jeanne Kisacky, an Administrative Assistant in the School of Integrative Plant Science who received her Ph.D. in Architecture at Cornell. She recently published her first book, "Rise of the Modern Hospital", which details the profound changes hospitals have made throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. Jeanne’s passion for understanding the influence of the built environment surrounding health and healing began during her undergraduate studies in architectural design. Her graduate work revolved around the history of hospitals and continued into the study of what she describes as the roles “people of different times and places have expected buildings to play in health,” which ultimately led her to write this book. Considering taking on a project like Jeanne’s? When asked if she had any advice to share with her fellow Cornell staff members, Jeanne says, “Put your ‘writing time’ on a calendar, defend it, and be sure you love it!” Congratulations, Jeanne!
