To continue its on-going support of the professional and personal lives of its full- and part-time associates, Skogen’s Festival Foods has announced a new Paid Parental Leave benefit effective January 1, 2024. Following the birth of their child or a placement of a child in connection to adoption or foster care in their home, associates will be provided with up to three weeks of Paid Parental Leave. The new benefit is intended to allow time away from work while providing financial support as the associate bonds and adjusts to life with the newest addition to their family. “As a family- and employee-owned company, family has always been the heart of everything we do. Our new Paid Parental Leave benefit is a testament to our unwavering commitment to supporting our associates and their families,” said Melissa Van Gheem, Senior Human Resources Director for Festival Foods. Paid Parental Leave is a welcome addition to the comprehensive benefits package offered by Festival Foods. The package includes an associate discount; health, dental and vision insurance; an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), a 401(k) retirement savings plan; an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP); and more.

Festival Foods is once again joining hands with The Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign to raise funds in support of The Salvation Army’s year-round missions. In 2022, shoppers visiting Festival Foods locations throughout Wisconsin generously donated just over $564,000 to the campaign. “We are pleased to partner with The Salvation Army and in its efforts to support local programs,” said Mark Skogen, Festival Foods President and CEO. “Community giving with neighbors helping neighbors is one of our values.” Festival Foods directs 100 percent of donations added to grocery totals at the checkout or placed in the Red Kettles to The Salvation Army. During last year’s holiday season, $49,799.70 was added to grocery totals at the checkout, and $514,249.45 was given to the Red Kettles. To sustain a successful campaign, the community is encouraged to volunteer. Those interested in volunteering may sign up for shifts in 1-hour increments via The Salvation Army’s registration website. The Salvation Army extends a welcome to individuals, families, churches, service clubs, schools and businesses to consider volunteering for this year’s campaign.

Festival Foods is boosting its associate discount to 15 percent. This discount is available to all associates, both full- and part-time, along with members of their immediate households. “We want to help our teammates stretch their dollars when it comes to buying the groceries they need to feed themselves and their families,” said Mark Skogen, Festival Foods president and CEO. “A higher discount frees up some crucial dollars so they can use them on other areas of their budgets.” The retailer, which previously offered associates a 10 percent discount, said the savings are good on both full-price and sale items. Associate purchases also add up to gas savings; for every $10 spent at Festival Foods, associates and guests can earn a penny off fuel purchases at Kwik Trip locations through participation in the Festival Foods Gas Rewards Program. “We are thrilled to increase our discount and give our team members – who are the foundation of our success – another reason to love working for a winning Wisconsin retailer,” Skogen said. “Right now, many companies are looking to cut costs and that often means reducing or eliminating the associate discount – we wanted to go in a different direction.” Festival Foods, which began in 1946 in a 3,000-square-foot store in Onalaska, Wisconsin, has expanded to 40 stores across the state, and will be opening its newest store in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, later this year.
