Last week, we joined over 20,000 tech professionals, students and innovators at hashtag#AFROTECH24. Partnering with AFROTECH and attending their annual conference connects us with emerging talent who are shaping the future of hashtag#GEICOtech through digital modernization and tech transformation. This year’s conference was held in Houston, Texas, giving us the opportunity to give back to the communities where our employees live and work. With the help of our charitable partner, Shoes That Fit, we distributed hundreds of pairs of shoes to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston. As part of our ongoing partnership with the National Auto Body Council’s Recycled Rides program, we donated a refurbished car to a local resident in need of transportation. At GEICO, we are invested in innovation and empathy, and are committed to developing a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment both within our workplace and in our wider community. See you at AFROTECH 2025!
We want to congratulate Tangela Richter, GEICO's Chief Legal Officer, for being selected as a Council of Urban Professionals 2024 Law Catalyst. Tangela was chosen for her incredible professional success, as well as the positive impact she has made on the community through volunteerism, philanthropy, and mentorship. We are so proud to have Tangela on the GEICO team.
We had a wonderful experience as a participating sponsor at this year’s Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC), the world’s largest gathering of women and nonbinary technologists. More than 30 employees and leaders from the Tech and Talent Acquisition teams were at the GEICO booth, networking with potential candidates and sharing information about our tech-centered workplace. This year, we started a new hiring initiative that gave candidates the opportunity to interview with GEICO at GHC and potentially walk away with a job offer in hand. We are thrilled to share that we made 30 offers at GHC and are excited that new technologists will be joining the GEICO team. One of our favorite parts of the conference was the popular session led by our very own Head of Engineering, Ann Yeung, who reflected on the evolution of her career and empowered participants to consider how they can take steps to shape their careers. Listening to Ann speak reminded us of the core purpose of the Grace Hopper Celebration: for women and non-binary technologists to learn and grow from each other. GEICO Auto Service agent Adam is no stranger to cracking jokes with his customers, but little do they know that they’re speaking with an established stand-up comedian. After work, Adam spends his time polishing his comedy routine around New York City and has even opened for the likes of Jim Gaffigan and Kevin James. #CareersUnexpected
GEICO associates volunteer an average of five hours a week reading, building, mentoring, walking, running and coaching. We do whatever it takes to help organizations and people in need. #geicocares #MLK2018 #GEICOinTheCommunity
Catie, a Macon Senior Applications Analyst, is no stranger to tackling projects at work. However, this busy bee doesn't stop there: after work, she's involved in her community as a Tae Kwon Do instructor, a yoga teacher, and a Girl Scout troop leader! We're honored to count Catie as one of our 39,000 people who care. #CareersUnexpected
