Caring for children in their time of need adds a harrowing edge to any 911 call but seeing them through the worst and becoming well once again is exactly why first responders, like Dominic, matter. On this EMS for Children Day, he recalls, “The most pivotal moment in my career was the day a mother brought my partner and I homemade cards that thanked us in detail for saving her four-year-old son’s life.” What a beautiful sentiment! Today marks the beginning of one of our favorite weeks of the year, National EMS Week! At GMR, we are proud to recognize all of our dedicated emergency medical service professionals across the country. We’ll be featuring a select few, whose outstanding stories exemplify what they—and all EMS professionals—do, starting with... Nathanael Day, a flight paramedic from Kansas who assisted with the successful implementation of Whole Blood. Whole Blood is a collection method that allows people to donate both blood and plasma transfusions at a single moment. “It was truly a team effort, but [Whole Blood] has been monumental to the care we provide our medical and trauma patients throughout the state.” Way to go, Nathanael, and thank you for bringing about the innovations that improve the health and wellness of our patients! #WhyIMakeADifference #EMSWeek2025
