Saturday’s GSC CityBoyz Givebacks Drive at LAPD Rampart Station brought the community together in such a meaningful way. Huge gratitude to CityBoyz and Brandyn Baker for leading this effort and uplifting families across Los Angeles. Thank you to the LAPD Rampart team for hosting and creating a warm, safe, welcoming space for everyone. 💙 Goodwill Southern California was proud to partner again this year with volunteers, backpacks filled with winter essentials, volunteer shirts, and GSC Verizon Skill Forward $15 dollar vouchers to help families shop for what they need most at the Goodwill store across the street.

Goodwill Southern California has always been inclusive. Since our inception, we have embraced principles of social justice. At a time when Los Angeles practiced segregation, we made it clear that ALL were welcome to use our public drinking fountain. Goodwill Southern California was founded in 1916 in Los Angeles. Five years before she had the right to vote, a woman, Katherine Higgins, spearheaded our organization, helping people with barriers to employment find good jobs that promote equity and sustainable communities. Today, Goodwill SoCal operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our work is funded by cash donations and our social enterprise network, including retail thrift stores, donation centers and business services.

Who We Are - Do Good. DoGoodwill.
Goodwill SoCal calls its workforce members “ambassadors” – and they are the best cheerleaders for our organization.

Why Goodwill
When Jorge came to Goodwill, he was lonely, shy, and frustrated. He had a painful childhood; his parents couldn't communicate with him because he was deaf, so they would beat him. Jorge dreamt of moving away to escape his past. At 25, he left his family and torment behind and came to California to start a new life. At Goodwill, Jorge received job training and found the resources he needed to begin a new career and transform his life. Click here to watch his story. Since 1916, Goodwill Southern California’s mission has been to Transform Lives Through the Power of Work. We serve individuals with disabilities and disadvantages by providing education, training, work experience, and job placement services. When you shop or donate to Goodwill, you help people in need secure employment and create brighter futures for themselves and their families.

Reduce, Reuse and Recycle is what we do. We take pride in our role as an environmentally responsible organization. For example, each year we receive more than 2.6 million donations of unwanted items.”Reselling these goods not only helps fund training and job placement for thousands of people each year, It also saves more than 100 million pounds of usable goods and waste from landfills. Strict environmental policies guide all of our business practices and those of our vendor partners. Goodwill Southern California’s green efforts have this wonderful, additional side effect: Improving the health and well-being of the global community
