What started out as a trial instantly became a hit. Cody, a Green Chimneys student, was hooked on horses from the very beginning. The connections he made with the equines combined with his natural abilities to care for them set the foundation for growth. Staff has helped Cody build skills while boosting his confidence. Student by Day, Horse Whisperer Around the Clock - Green Chimneys
Today’s Monday Motivation is dedicated to Green Chimneys alumni! We recently enjoyed a scheduled visit from former student Christian Broas. In 2016, Christian left Green Chimneys School equipped with the skills he established here and ready to complete the last three years of high school in his home district. Since graduating, Christian works full-time in information technology. He’s also pursuing an associate’s degree at Dutchess Community College and is a proud volunteer firefighter. While touring the Brewster Campus, Christian shared memories, “I always loved the animals here, especially the horses. And I remember when the camels arrived. I had so much fun here.” Christian remains connected to the staff and friends he made here. This summer Christian even vacationed with one of his best friends from Green Chimneys. Social worker Mark Hennessey, LCSW-R, coordinated the visit and aptly summed up our shared sentiment, “We are so very proud of you, Christian!” #MondayMotivation #SpecialEducation #StudentSuccess

This male and female pair of red-tailed hawks lived at Pace University for many years before joining the Paul C. Kupchok Wildlife Center. Both birds are rescues and unable to be released due to permanent injuries. With expert care, they are healthy and safe. Learn about them and other wildlife and animals that live at Green Chimneys:

Join us on Aug 30 and interview on-site. Registration is not required to attend the Hiring Event, but it is encouraged. Come and meet our staff in a casual setting outdoors, under a tent, on our Brewster campus. Supervisors will be present so come ready for an interview. If you have a resume, please bring it with you. Great Hump Day News: Earlier this week, The Sam and Myra Ross Institute at Green Chimneys hosted a three-day camel workshop. Thankfully, human and camel attendees traveled from near and far to make this an incredible experience. Special thanks to the esteemed trainers, Doug Baum, Terri Lindley, and Nick Morrow for their expertise and guidance. Congratulations to Equine Program Coordinator Samantha Arevalo and our stellar farm team for leading an engaging educational event. And an extra shout out to all of our staff, the presenters, interns and volunteers, food and environmental services, support staff and more who each did their part (in high temps) to make this workshop a success!
