Our "Why I Love H2M" series continue today with Chelsea Martinez! Chelsea is a staff engineer in our water department. She assists in the design of treatment buildings, water storage tanks, water mains, and other water related projects. Chelsea loves being able to see projects through to completion. Today is International Accounting Day! Today, we recognize everyone in the accounting industry - but particularly our H2M architects + engineers' Accounting Department! Our Accounting Department completes all the functions of General Ledger Accounting and Project Accounting. The Accountants complete all tasks related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management. The Project Accountants manage all timesheets, project setup & maintenance, billing, and provide daily financial assistance to Project Managers. All Accounting employees are in constant communication with each other and employees throughout all offices and departments across H2M. Yesterday, November 8th was National STEM/STEAM day. This day is celebrated to encourage children to actively engage in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics related fields. The day aims to highlight the importance of providing children with the necessary tools to propel their learning in STEM/STEAM curriculum. At H2M architects + engineers, we proudly support the ACE Mentor Program of Greater NY (Architecture, Construction, and Engineering). This program provides a forum for high school students to be mentored and inspired to pursue careers in architecture, engineering, and construction. Each year, H2M hosts an ACE Mentor class out of both our Melville and Westchester offices that meets bi-weekly to work with our staff. Students work in teams and collaborate on a real design project to present to their families and other local ACE teams at the end of the school year. This program gives students hands-on experience and allows them to find their passion within the industry. We held our first virtual ACE Mentor Session of the year last week!
