We are pleased to share that HGA has achieved the Just label 2.0. Designed by the International Living Future Institute, Just is a nutrition label for socially just and equitable organizations. As a voluntary disclosure tool for organizations rather than a certification program, it is a transparency platform for organizations to disclose their operations, including how they treat their employees and where they make financial and community investments. Equity is a living, breathing part of HGA, reflected in our strategy, our people, our design, and our community engagement. We are committed to fostering an equitable culture where everyone is valued; applying an integrated, holistic design approach that engages the people most impacted by our design; advancing accessibility for all; and using resources responsibly to shape a positive future for our communities. Who We Are - HGA
We appreciate our 1,000+ employees every day and this year we extended our annual Employee Appreciation month from one to two! Throughout May and June, we celebrated with ice cream socials, indoor mini golf, thoughtful gifts, and thank you notes; our employees had multiple opportunities to connect and express their gratitude for one another. A highlight of Employee Appreciation is always the presentation of the Founders’ Awards, a special recognition for one person in each office—chosen by their colleagues—who consistently exhibits attributes similar to those of our founders, Dick Hammel, Curt Green, and Bruce Abrahamson: optimism, empathy, a spirit of collaboration, and the belief in the power of our HGA community to make a difference. 2023 Employee Appreciation & Founders Award Winners
We are thrilled to share Westwood Hills Nature Center is a recipient of The American Institute of Architects (AIA) 2023 COTE Award for Sustainable Design! This award, the best-known program for sustainable design excellence in the architecture industry, highlights the innovative ways our collaboration with the City of St. Louis Park incorporated sustainable practices into the design and construction of the Westwood Hills Nature Center, ensuring that the community can enjoy this natural oasis for years to come. A teaching tool in environmental stewardship, 100% of the Nature Center's annual energy needs are supplied by on-site renewable sources.

2023 International Women's Day
We are thrilled to share that our design for the Marlboro Music Reich Hall Rehearsal Building & Music Library has received a 2023 National AIA Architecture Award from The American Institute of Architects (AIA). The award recognizes outstanding contemporary architecture and the many ways buildings and spaces can improve our lives. In approaching the design of Reich Hall, our integrated team of architects, engineers, interior, lighting, and landscape designers worked collaboratively to continue this aesthetic with an acoustically sophisticated environment for festival musical rehearsals, a music library, offices, and gathering spaces.

As we celebrate black history month, we reflect on the power of design to transform communities. The new Bronzeville Center for the Arts, in the heart of Milwaukee’s historically African American Bronzeville neighborhood, will serve as a place for community gathering and cultural exchange. Learn more about our collaboration with the Bronzeville Center for the Arts (BCA), M&E Architects+Engineers (Isaac Menyoli), owner’s representative Emem Group, Zoe Engineering LLC, and HGA, and this project that will be a tribute to the rich history of the neighborhood and an investment in its future.

Celebrating 70 Years of Design
HGA is pleased to welcome Terri Howard as Associate Vice President and inaugural Director of Equity. In this newly created executive role, Howard will serve as a thought leader to drive equity initiatives, develop hands-on programming, organize firmwide resources, and build external partnerships that position HGA as an industry model in workplace equity, recruitment and retention, and client relations. “The Director of Equity position is an important opportunity to further champion our strategic plan focused on three pillars of research, equity, and collaboration,” said Tim Carl, FAIA, LEED AP, Chief Executive Officer of HGA. “Howard will be instrumental in initiating a proactive, firmwide view of equity where all are embraced, valued, and included.”
