Henry Ford Health Honors Our Nurses at Detroit Thanksgiving Day Parade In gratitude for the exceptional care our nurses provide every day, Henry Ford Health chose to honor them in the 2023 America's Thanksgiving Day Parade taking place in downtown Detroit. Some of our award-winning nurses waved to onlookers from the health system float, while many others walked alongside in celebration of a great team.
Henry Ford Health and Ascension Michigan Partner to Expand Healthcare Across Southeast and Mid-Michigan Henry Ford Health and Ascension Michigan have signed an agreement to enter a joint venture that will bring together Ascension’s southeast Michigan and Genesys healthcare facilities and assets with Henry Ford’s. This will allow both organizations to advance the health of the communities they serve and improve outcomes, access and equity for all by establishing an integrated network focused on population health and community initiatives that support the region’s most vulnerable populations, as well as innovation, academic medicine, and advanced, complex care. The combined organization would employ approximately 50,000 team members at more than 550 sites of care across our region. “Together we can expand healthcare services and deliver innovations in care — from prevention and early detection through the treatment of complex conditions — to more people and communities across our state, including those who are most vulnerable,” said Robert Riney, President and CEO, Henry Ford Health. “We share a deeply rooted dedication to providing world-class healthcare that everyone deserves, regardless of geographic, demographic, or socioeconomic status.”
Partnering with MSU for Accelerated BSN Program Nursing leaders from the Henry Ford Health and Michigan State University Health Sciences partnership have expanded the MSU Accelerated Second Degree BSN program in Detroit. The accelerated second degree BSN is designed for students who have earned a bachelor's degree or higher in another field and wish to complete a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Students will complete most of their clinical rotations at Henry Ford Health sites. Graduates qualify to take the NCLEX-RN, the licensure examination for eligibility to become a registered nurse. Current reports indicate that MSU BSN graduates who took the NCLEX–RN examination in 2021 had a combined first-time pass rate of 92 percent.
Groundbreaking Rehab and Research We are excited to share that today the Gilbert Family Foundation announced it will invest $375 million, in partnership with Henry Ford Health, to bring world-renowned Shirley Ryan AbilityLab inpatient rehabilitation services to our Detroit campus expansion. The Gilbert Family Foundation gift will also support the creation of the Nick Gilbert Neurofibromatosis Research Institute, named after Dan and Jennifer Gilbert’s late son, Nick. This first-of-its-kind research institute will be housed inside the new Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences research facility.

Henry Ford Health Announces Architects in Transformative Detroit Hospital Campus Expansion Henry Ford Health has selected the architectural engineering firms it plans to use in the design and construction of its transformative one-million-square-foot-plus hospital campus expansion in Detroit. Leading the team is Omaha-based HDR, a globally recognized architecture and engineering firm with deep expertise in large-scale academic medical center projects that respect the cultural and historic significance of their sites. Collaborating with HDR are Boston-based Tsoi Kobus Design, an award-winning planning, architecture and interior design firm that has been leading the broader vision planning for more than a decade, and Hamilton Anderson, a Detroit-based African American-owned architecture and landscape architecture practice known for creating successful urban projects.
