We proudly held our annual Veterans Day Flag Raising Ceremony to honor those who have served. The event featured remarks from executive leadership; Jaynie Studdenmand, a member of our hospital board and a proud Gold Star mother and Leadership Pasadena, a nonprofit focused on leadership development for veterans. Kevin Streeter, MBA, MS, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, vice president of enterprise clinical services and proud veteran, also reflected on the meaning of service and community. We’re grateful to all who joined us in recognizing the courage, commitment, and continued service of our veterans. It takes many teams to make Huntington Health an outstanding place to receive care. From clinical to administrative, our Take Five series highlights the departments and talented individuals who work together to uphold our commitment to excellence as we fulfill our mission to provide compassionate community care. This month, we’re featuring the Float Pool. Department overview: The Float Pool consists of registered nurses (RNs) and clinical care partners (CCPs) who care for patients in specific areas as needed to address staffing variances 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Staff must adapt to various units across the hospital as well as support any needs identified by Huntington Health. Recent team accomplishment: During the Eaton Canyon Fire, and with limited resources at the time, the Float Pool was called upon to open alternate care spaces to care for and oversee people displaced by the fire. This is just one example of the department's ability to step in during times of crisis and provide seamless support where it is needed most.

Huntington recently partnered with the Hospital Association of Southern California (HASC) to produce this special video about our response to the Eaton Fire during a time of extreme crisis, and for many employees, personal hardship.
