The nursing team at IU Health is 9,000 strong. Inpatient nurses work as a team, collaborating with other nurses, physicians, pharmacists and all other members of the patient care team. “It’s basically an engine with a lot of moving parts – and everyone is important,” said Brandon Pfaff, RN on 8 East. Tali Navarro agrees - “everyone up is here is kind of like family, we definitely help each other out.”

Friday evening, Indiana University Health, in a partnership with Marion County Public Health Department, administered 150 COVID-19 vaccinations at the Eastern Star Church Care Center. IU Health has launched several new initiatives aimed at improving COVID-19 vaccine access in underserved neighborhoods and communities of color hit hardest by COVID-19. IU Health and the Marion County Public Health Department will host a series of community vaccination clinics at churches and neighborhood organizations in Indianapolis. Vaccinations must be scheduled ahead of time. At this time, sign-ups for the community vaccination clinics are facilitated through partner churches and organizations. IU Health's dietitians are involved in multidisciplinary rounds, provide nutrition assessments and education for inpatients and outpatients, manage enteral and parenteral nutrition for those patients unable to meet their nutrition needs with food, serve on various committees, assist with writing policies and procedures, provide education to interdisciplinary team members and precept dietetic interns.
