Our 1st Cultural Orientation of the year is in FULL SWING at the Home Office this week with 55 of our newest Directors taking a break from their regular responsibilities to learn all things MBK! From their Welcome Reception to team lunches overlooking Orange County to crash course Group sessions with our Accounting, HR, Sales & Marketing, Renovations and Operations Departments, and presentations from our Leadership team, our new hires have been on the go and inundated with a wealth of information to take back with them to their communities. Thank you for your taking the time out of your busy schedule to visit us and your commitment to inspire and educate your own team. We are so excited to finally be able to put faces to names and are so proud to be able to support such amazing Directors!
On National Caregivers Day, we want to celebrate our very own team who work extremely hard on the front line each and every day to provide quality, compassionate care to our residents. Their days can be long and demanding, but they continuously provide support to those who need it most and we are eternally grateful for YOU! Camille Brown, our CFL Director at The Commons at Elk Grove, captured the essence of this day: “Let us be grateful for the people who make us smile, the people who make work fun, and the people we can count on to get the job done! Thank you for being an inspiring team. You have earned the trust, admiration and respect of the company with your honesty, sincerity and commitment towards work. Your dedication and professionalism towards CFL is truly remarkable. We appreciate you for more than just your work. We also want to celebrate your character and positive effect you have on others. Complaining is finding faults; wisdom is finding solutions. Thanks for continuously being wise!” So in honor of this special day, we want to say THANK YOU!
We wanted to give a huge SHOUT OUT to our community, The Wellington, in Salt Lake City, UT, for reaching 100% OCCUPANCY! Our Regional Director of Operations, Chris Etherington, and our Regional Director of Sales, Kristen Curran-Brookham, stopped by to deliver 100 sweet treats in honor of their accomplishment and to congratulate them on their huge success. We are so proud of their hard work and commitment to MBK's pursuit and purpose and their Director of Sales, Jeanette Chidester, perfectly explained how they got there- her TEAM! “I am so lucky to work with our amazing team who genuinely cares about the residents!” The “LOVE” at The Wellington is felt each and every day!" Well-said and well-done, The Wellington! #mbkseniorliving #salesandmarketing #teamwork #occupancygoals
Traditionally the month for all things ❤HEART❤-related, February also reminds us to take care of our heart; so to commemorate American Heart Month, our Home Office wore RED on Valentine's Day to bring awareness to heart disease, which is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the U.S. So on a day that we celebrate the ones we love, why not make a commitment to a healthier lifestyle so we can to stay in their lives as long as we can? Here are some tips on how to keep your heart healthier for a lifetime: https://www.heartfoundation.org.au/your-heart/keep-your-heart-healthy
Congratulations to our Almond Heights community for hosting a wonderful Winter Wonderland Grand Re-opening Event! The Honorary Mayors of Orangevale and Fair Oaks, CA, along with the Chamber of Commerce, joined our residents, team members and other guests to celebrate the significant project improvements made to the Dining Room and Common Areas over the course of the last year. The Culinary Team, including Peter Do, CFE, CFSM, our National Director of Dining Services, put together a fabulous spread of delightful desserts and savory bites for everyone to enjoy; and we cannot forget about the ever popular Mimosa Bar! Also in attendance were leaders from our Home Office, including Jeff Fischer, our President; Christy Van Der Westhuizen, our VP of Sales & Marketing; Michelle Park, our Corporate Director of Marketing; Crystal Roberts, our National Director of Resident Enrichment, Judith Jones, our Regional Director of Sales; and Pam Hardesty, our Regional Director of Operations. We were so happy to see so many smiling faces at this spectacular soiree!
With the start of the New Year, we wanted to congratulate our NEWEST members to our EDIT program - Luke Burgess, Jaimie Winter, Diana Borza, and Allyson Smith! These 4 team members will be joining our 1st group of Executive-Directors-in-Training with the goal of creating a strong bench of department coordinators that are MBK-trained to become future leaders at our communities. We are so thrilled for their next step at MBK Senior Living and cannot wait to see them grow within the company! Here's to your next adventure in 2020! #mbkseniorliving #leadershipdevelopment #trainingprogram
Our Human Resources Department volunteered at the Second Harvest Food Bank over the Holiday season and packed over 2 tons of carrots that were distributed to hungry children, seniors and families in Orange County within 24-48 hours. We are so proud of their commitment to Yoi Shigoto and can’t say enough how much we appreciate what the Second Harvest Food Bank is doing for the community. With the help of their supporters and volunteers (like us), Second Harvest Food Bank works through a network of more than 300 non-profit partner agencies and programs to provide wholesome food and fresh produce to more than 250,000 people in Orange County every month. Last year, they distributed the equivalent of more than 21.6 million meals to the hungry. If you have a few hours to spare, don’t forget to volunteer your time for those less fortunate, because every single second or dollar raised makes a difference; and we are so honored that we were able to be a part of it! #mbkseniorliving #yoishigoto #giveback #volunteering #teambuilding #makeadifference
Say HELLO to our Cultural Orientation Attendees from October 2019! 30+ Department Managers paid a visit to our Home Office this week to learn more about the work environment we strive to create; and after 3 days of break-out sessions, presentations, and more, with our Executive, Accounting, HR, Sales/Marketing, Development/Renovations, Health Services, Resident Enrichment, and Dining Services Departments, we hope that we achieved our goal - to have our team members walk away with an understanding of how we treat people at MBK and how we want our team to be treated! Thank you to all the participants who were in attendance and to everyone at each community who filled in and helped out while they were gone. We loved finally putting faces to names and are here to support you and your teams however we can! Remember: Your most important job as a leader is to create a positive culture that energizes and encourages people, empowers and enables people to learn and grow, fosters teamwork, and provides an opportunity for people to do their best work. It all starts with YOU!
