When Nick Hampton, Sanitation Supervisor at Ochsner Health Medical Center in New Orleans, recognized a need for improved efficiency in the dish room, he came up with a plan that ensures safety, cleanliness, and productivity for the kitchen that serves 1,500 patient meals daily. Between the creation of a wall for hanging clean dishes and assigning dedicated station-cleaning time every two hours, Nick and team have raised the kitchen's sanitization and organization ratings to the best they've been in the last 10 years.

With food insecurity rates in our country rising every year, UVA Health has spent the last five years increasing access to nutritious foods with their Dialysis Food Pharmacy Program. Lesley McPhatter, MS, RDN, CSR, Clinical Nutrition Manager at UVA Health Lynchburg, rallies support throughout all UVA Health locations and has helped provide 9,000 bags to 450+ dialysis patients since 2020 with the help of the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank.
