We have recently been posting about the WISER system that we designed for emergency responders. However, we haven't addressed where WISER's data comes from. WISER data comes from the Hazardous Substances Data Bank (HSDB). HSDB is a toxicology data file on the National Library of Medicine's (NLM) Toxicology Data Network (TOXNET®). It contains information on human exposure, industrial hygiene, emergency handling procedures, environmental fate, regulatory requirements, and related areas. SAVE THE DATE: Next Century will be at UMBC's Spring Internship & Career Fair on February 16th! Come meet our recruiting team and learn about our software engineering opportunities! See you there! #umbc #Baltimore

WebWISER is also available! When an Internet connection is available, access the same WISER functionality with your web browser. We designed WISER (Wireless Information System for Emergency Responders) to assist emergency responders in hazardous material incidents. Apart from providing rapid access to the most important information about a hazardous substance, the WISER tool also uses the information one gathers from the scene of an accident to walk you through the steps needed to isolate a spill, leak or fire, and determine the appropriate isolation zone. This video demonstrates WISER's protective distance mapping feature. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQsme
