In North Adams, MA, Alan Horbal buys hundreds of American flags every year to decorate the town’s telephone poles in recognition of Memorial Day. Flags are not yet fully stocked for the season, so David Sarlitto, Executive Director of the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation, took a road trip to multiple Ocean State Job Lot locations to collect the flags Alan needs. After many stops and more than six hours of driving round trip, David had delivered 200 flags to Alan.

The partnership between our generous customers and the Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation supports the food pantries, schools and first responders in the communities where our stores are located. The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals does an excellent job providing direct care and services to thousands of homeless, injured and abused animals each year. The OSJL Charitable Foundation wants to help their kind-hearted team accomplish their work safely, so we dropped off 1,200 bottles of hand sanitizer, 400 boxes of gloves and 2,400 boxes of sanitizing wipes. Thanks to our generous customers, we exceeded the goal for our Buy-Give-Get program. Right now, 42,000 coats are being distributed to veterans in need across the Northeast. It is truly remarkable what we can accomplish when we work together!
