Dawn was in her 5th month of pregnancy, managing her team, when the nation-wide lockdown was announced. There was much to manage while setting up WFH, especially in terms of logistics, but her team fully co-operated and ensured that she did not stress herself too much. Her husband, away at work abroad, didn’t make it until 2 weeks before her delivery. Giving birth during a pandemic also added the risk of infection, but both the mother and child emerged healthy and safe from the procedure. Going back to work meant updating herself —on at least 4 months of emails. She often felt that she was incapable of doing justice to her work, or her son. But with help from family and work mates, she quickly adapted. Dawn believes that maternity breaks are very essential for the physical and emotional well-being of any mother. She recommends that as a working mother, one must never forget to assess their own well-being. Being a first-time mom can be very overwhelming, but with patience and some help, one can learn. #WomensDay #March8th #OmegaHealthcare #WomenOfOmega #Motherhood
When Sruthy went on her maternity leave, they were only 84 days. She went through a lot of dilemma whether to pursue a career or to focus on her two young kids. Thanks to the encouragement and support from her husband, family and her immediate manager, she steadily bounced back. When she returned, she first invested in herself – by taking up a certification course, and felt proud to have successfully completed it. Sruthy believes that once you become a mother, it is all about balancing and prioritizing — when to focus on work and when to focus on family. This often means that a working mother may have to pass on a travel opportunity or even a promotion. But that’s fine as it’s your decision. Sruthy, who joined Omega in 2006 fresh out of college, is now Associate Director- HR. She never let her personal responsibilities stop her from pursuing her career and has been instrumental in implementing many organization-wide technological transformations from HR, in addition to launching multiple initiatives aimed at improving employee experience. #WomensDay #March8th #OmegaHealthcare #W
Divya is the only medical coder from her village, and was trained at Omega Coding Academy. Where girls her age were being married off, she feels lucky to have got the opportunity to continue her studies with a BSc in Nursing. Placement in a reputed hospital brought her to Bangalore. Even though her parents were not very supportive initially, she managed to convince them with help from her brothers. One of her nurse friends recommended OMCA. Divya, always biased to the theoretical aspects of her job, got herself enrolled. She has always has been a keen learner, and it was not long before she joined Omega. Her family is traditionally into agriculture, and during the pandemic, her uneducated parents struggled with the idea of work from home. They saw their daughter in front of a screen all day, typing away and talking to it, unable to actually see any work being done! The network connectivity in her village emerged unreliable too. So when she was called back to office, she was happy to oblige — ensuring strict adherence to the COVID protocols. She is currently gearing up for a bigger r
Deepika is the sole working woman, and mother from her village, where many still condemn that she works in night shifts. Her family initially opposed the prospect, considering the long commute and her safety. They were pacified once they realized that Omega was a safe space for women to work. She was persistent about working, despite the dissuasion from everybody- she did not stop until she got selected in Omega. On joining Omega for night shifts, she expected a minority of women in her team. But she was surprised to find an equal number of men and women in her training batch. Today she is the proud owner of a two-wheeler, and is also helping finance her new home. She believes that Omega has truly enlightened her life, and takes immense pride in wearing her identity tag— a symbol of her dignity and hard work as she returns to her village every morning. She has inspired other women in her village as well, some of whom have approached her for guidance. The prospect of those women joining Omega excites her, and she awaits the day when their dreams turn true. #WomensDay #March8th #OmegaH
