We're proud to share that Preferred Materials has been awarded nine ACAF awards, including "Florida's Statewide Urban Road Builder of the Year" for our work on State Road 573 (S Dale Mabry) in Hillsborough County, and the 2026 A.P. Bolton Award for our US 301 project in Tampa. Presented by the Asphalt Contractors Association of Florida (ACAF), the A.P. Bolton Award recognizes the best paving project completed in the state of Florida each year, making it one of the highest honors in our industry. This year's award adds to an incredible legacy: 2026 - US 301 (Tampa) 2024 - SR 597 / Dale Mabry (Tampa) 2022 - I-75 from CR 672 to Progress Blvd. (Tampa) 2021 - I-75 MM 0.00 to 12.547 (Tampa) 2020 - SR 25 / US 441 (Jacksonville) To win this award once is an accomplishment. To earn it five times in the last seven years, including four of the last six from our Tampa operations, is a testament to the people who show up every day committed to doing the job the right way.
The industry counted 298,000 open positions on the last day of the month, a 32,000 increase from April and a 76,000 increase from the same month in 2025. All told, 3.5% of construction jobs went unfilled last month. Although the number of open jobs increased to the highest level of 2026, the pace at which employers laid off and hired construction workers indicated wavering demand outside of the data center boom as well as a desire to hang onto existing employees, economists said.
Huge thanks to everyone who showed up early and represented PMI in our first Asphalt & Concrete collaborative mud run. Challenging obstacles, lots of laughs, and the chance to support Seamark Ranch, a worthwhile local organization that PMI is proud to stand behind! #MudRun #SeamarkRanch #CommunitySupport #LocalImpact #Proud2bePMI
Yesterday we took time to highlight our See Stop Do approach, focusing on staying aware, speaking up when something isn’t right, and following through with safe, consistent actions that keep everyone protected and the job moving forward the right way. #SeeStopDo #proud2bePMI #SafetyFirst
We recently visited Osceola Elementary School in St. Augustine, Florida to spend time with the school’s ESE classes. Lately, the students have had something new each month to see and learn about, including visits featuring police cars, fire trucks, and more. We were happy to be part of one of those visits and enjoyed interacting with the students, wrapping up by handing out squishy mixers and hard hats. #StudentEngagement #LearningExperience #HandsOnLearning #proud2bePMI

Big pour, smooth execution! This morning, Baldwin and Jax Central teamed up to deliver 600 yards of concrete for a new hangar at Cecil Airport and wrapped it up safe and smooth. Cecil Airport has come a long way from its WWII-era Navy roots. Once a military airfield, it now operates as a modern center for flight training and commercial cargo, carrying its aviation legacy into a new era.
Preferred Materials was honored to attend the annual American Heart Association's Hard Hats with a Heart Campaign celebration in Winter Park Fl. last night. The added bonus of having our team win the Cornhole Tournament was just icing on the cake! Congrats to all participants and contributors to this excellent cause
THANK YOU to everyone who joined us for the 3rd Annual PMI Chili Cook Off! We shared laughs, judged some incredible chili, and collected socks for The City Rescue Mission’s “Warm Feet” program, helping keep Jacksonville’s unhoused community warm this winter.
